Reflections from the new MC-D Site Coordinator
Jim Garcia, the new Making Connections-Denver site coordinator is becoming acclimated to the challenging and gratifying work of this initiative. “It’s a privilege to be a part of an initiative that has such a direct impact on families. I have a personal belief that tremendous power emanates from residents and community, and I am amazed at what can be accomplished when communities come together, often overcoming socioeconomic barriers,” said Jim. MC-D staff, Partners and residents extend a warm welcome to Jim and look forward to working with him.
Updates from the 100 Family Study
The Making Connections-Denver Community Research Team (CRT) has completed 91 surveys out of the final goal of 120 families by the end of 2007. The purpose of this longitudinal study is to find out if MC-D strategies are actually working for families deeply engaged in the work. Analysis of the data will begin in January of 2008 and planning for the 2nd wave of interviews later in the first quarter of 2008. Please let us know if there are any families from our neighborhoods who are involved in at least one MC-D activity that would be good candidates for this study. All participants are compensated with gift cards for their time. For more information contact Shelly Travis at 720-891-4921.
