New MC-D Site Coordinator
Making Connections-Denver is pleased to announce the hiring of new Site Coordinator, Jim Garcia. Jim comes to us from a rich and diverse background as the former Director of Admissions and Community Outreach at Arrupe Jesuit High School, the founder of Clinica Tepeyac, and the co-founder of Escuela de Guadalupe, a dual language school in Northwest Denver.
Dual Language Resident Leadership & Facilitation Training (RLF)
MC-D hosted its first dual language (English & Spanish) RLF training on Saturday, September 29th. Resident leaders, MC-D staff and Project WISE interns attended this all day training led by MC-D Staff Candace RedShirt, Zulema Inai and Rosa Briceno, a national RLF coach. The training alternated between English and Spanish with translation headsets so that all participants could experience the training in their native language. The participants built valuable relationships, practiced techniques to participate in, design and facilitate meetings that are results based. For more information contact Candace RedShirt at 720-891-4919 or credshirt@mcdenver.org
MC-D Staff & Residents Attend Health Summit
A wonderful Denver team attended the Annie E. Casey Health Summit in Washington, D.C. last week to work on Making Connection-Denver’s health strategies. Team members included Diana Romero-Campbell from Mile High United Way, nurse practioner, Gordon Duval, resident partner, Sandy Douglas, and MC-D’s Josh Lazaroff and Emily Bustos. Immediate next steps from this summit include conducting a health scan to obtain a clearer understanding of child health needs in MC-D communities.
