MC-D Hosts Immigration Forum
Over 25 people attended an immigration forum hosted by MC-D on Wednesday, May 30, 2007. Barbara Melton from the office of Homeland Security and a a representative from the Mexican Consulate spoke about current immigration laws and citizenship, and answered questions from the group. Participant Family Data Collection (PFDC) or 100 Family Study
The 100 Family Study, a longitudinal study of 100 families engaged in MC-D activities is being implemented by the MC-D Community Research Team. To date, 13 interviews have been completed, with a goal of 100 by the end of this year. If you know of a family who is actively involved in MC-D related activities, who would be a good candidate (English or Spanish speaking) for this study contact Veronica Quezada at 720-891-4915. Families are interviewed once a year and are compensated for their time.

Community Learning Network (CLN) Seeks Community Data Volunteers
The CLN is seeking people who would be interested in serving as a research and data community representatives, taking research and data out to community groups and bringing back data and research requests to the Community Learning Network. The Community Learning Network, which is comprised of community members, other community research and data volunteers and evaluation partners, is responsible for reviewing progress and developing next steps on MC-D’s overall evaluation plan.

Neighborhood Conference: Strengthening Our Communities, Block by Block
City officials, fellow neighbors and community organizations host a day of communitywide networking and neighborhood leadership Saturday, June 9, 2007, 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. at West High School, 951 Elati St.

The agenda includes presentations by local and national leaders on community building, workshops to address specific issues facing neighborhoods, large group decision-making to define what strong neighborhoods look like and effective strategies to promote them, and opportunities for networking. The day-long conference will help promote a shared vision for Denver’s diverse neighborhood and community groups can work together to build stronger neighborhoods, and how that vision can lead to action on a block-by-block basis.
