We are settled into our new offices in Curtis Park and are ready to have a party! Please come and bring your families and friends. Westside Family NetWorks announces the Adoption, Foster and Kinship Care Recruitment, Mentorship and Support Campaign
Westside Family NetWorks would like to invite interested Southwest Denver Neighborhood people to become Foster and Kinship Families! Bilingual families are strongly encouraged to apply! Please help adolescents who are in the foster care system remain in their own communities and support families as they strive to ensure the safety and well being of children and teens. Westside Family NetWorks will host an informational meeting, Thursday, October 26th, 6:30 PM, at Bethany United Methodist Church, 3501 W. First Ave. Free dinner and child care will be provided! Residents needed for Minimum Wage Interviews
9to5, National Association of Working Women, an organization that helps low-wage women win economic justice, needs you to speak out about your experiences regarding the minimum wage. YOU CAN HELP! Contact Rita McCoy of 9to5 at (303) 628-0925 or rmccoy925@aol.com and tell your story about how you are living on minimum wage. We need your VOICE. Your story will be shared with media personnel seeking people to speak out on this issue.
MOP Action Meeting November 2nd - Our Hope for the Future
On Thursday, November 2, from 6:15p.m.to 8:00 p.m. at Denver West High School Auditorium, 951 Elati Street, MOP will present information that addresses the following issues:
• Expanding Pre-school Access in Denver (Ballot Initiative 1A)
• Expanding Post Secondary Education Options in Colorado
• Implementing a Weighted Student Funding Formula in Denver
• Expanding Broken Windows/COMPSTAT Policing Strategies
• Effects and Consequences of State Immigration Laws (SB 90, HB 1023)
• Healthcare Insurance Access for All Coloradans

City Launches New First-Time Homebuyer Program
Becoming a homeowner in the greater Denver metro area is now easier thanks to a new mortgage assistance program offered by the City and County of Denver and the Metro Mayors Caucus. The Metro Mortgage Assistance program offers a 4% down payment assistance grant and 6.20% 30-year fixed-rate mortgage. The program is available to qualifying first-time homebuyers and individuals who haven’t owned a home in the past three years. Metro Mortgage Assistance is offered to qualified homebuyers who purchase a home within the City and County of Denver or any of the following participating jurisdictions: Arvada, Aurora, Brighton, Broomfield, Castle Rock, Centennial, Commerce City, Edgewater, Englewood, Greenwood Village, Lafayette, Lakewood, Littleton, Lone Tree, Louisville, Northglenn, Parker, Sheridan, Superior, Thornton and Westminster.
