Making Connections-Denver residents and staff have developed two tool kits to strengthen neighborhoods. These tool kits can be downloaded with an Adobe Acrobat reader.

Block Party Tool Kit

Block parties are a fun, positive way for neighbors to connect with each other and work together to build stronger, safer and more cohesive communities. They can be simple one block events, or cover several blocks in a neighborhood. While their exact origin is unknown, block parties have grown very popular in many parts of the country. Anyone can put together their own event, given the right information and resources.

The Block Party Tool Kit is a valuable resource that can help organizers who would like to schedule their own neighborhood party. By using the simple guidelines friends and neighbors can easily organize events that will be fun for all. Block parties are encouraged and supported by the city, foundations and neighborhood groups.

Story Circle Tool Kit

Story telling has always been a powerful tool for bringing neighbors together. Story Circles make use of this age-old resource to help address community issues and build a stronger neighborhood. In a story circle, people gather in small groups to talk about their experiences and relate their histories. With the help of a trained facilitator, they answer questions and provide valuable insight that can help neighbors understand each other better. The ultimate goal is improved communications and more cohesive neighborhoods.
